I joined Wingrave Yeats from a big four audit firm in 2006. At that point in time I was still a trainee and was very short on experience in the world of accounting and audit. I was quickly thrust into the front line and found the level of responsibility daunting at first, but ultimately exhilarating. The level of belief that Wingrave Yeats had in my abilities was very empowering and gave me the confidence to succeed and to seek out ever greater challenges. Read More...
Having started my CA training at a Big 4 accountancy firm, I moved to Wingrave Yeats in 2007 where I completed my CA training and I am now qualified. Is working for a smaller firm better than working for a Big 4 firm? YES, without a doubt. Working for a smaller firm I have found that I am less of a number and more of an individual. As a trainee you are not pigeon-holed into ‘audit’ of ‘tax’, but encouraged to find the mix which suits you best. My portfolio ranges from small owner-managed businesses to AIM-listed entities, from media clients to those in the automotive-technology field, no one day is alike. Read More...
I joined Wingrave Yeats in January 2007 after leaving a Big Four firm, in hindsight this was the best decision I have made in my professional career to date.
I was part way through my ACA qualification when I left the Big Four firm, Wingrave Yeats’ flexible approach to the exams suited my style of learning far better than the Big Four’s approach. I was able to discuss how I studied best for exams with a manager who was able to tailor the remainder of the ACA to suit my needs. Personally, I had come from an arts background where learning theories from Plato and Aristotle was far removed from the accounting world of double entry and corporation tax! Wingrave Yeats gave me the opportunity to study in a manner which suited my style of learning and as a result I finished my exams passing each first time. I feel the support provided by the managers and the fact Wingrave considered my individual needs was instrumental in my exam success. Since finishing the ACA exams I have decided to sit the CTA exams and again I have been allowed the flexibility to choose how best to prepare for these exams... Read More..
I have been at Wingrave Yeats since March 2000 and completed my ACA training at the firm. That was the easy part! I considered getting a different experience post qualification and although I am pleased I explored this decision carefully, I'm glad I stayed with the firm. Wingrave Yeats offers diversity and challenge every single day. This is ultimately derived from the breadth of our client base and servicing the variety of needs that come with such a diverse range of clients. At the same time we all juggle our own projects which we are given the freedom to create and fulfil. Read More...
Having attained the CA qualification whilst working for a Top 10 firm in Australia, moved to London in 2007, aiming to progress my career in a major international market. Initially I took a short term contract role in the audit team of a medium sized London practice but found that as a contractor, there was little inclusion in firm wide activities and minimal opportunity for training and professional development. I craved the friendly, social and interactive environment of my previous firm. Read More...
Having started my professional training contract working for a Big 4 accountancy firm I soon came to realise that ticking and bashing was not really for me. The anonymity that came with being part of a corporate behemoth meant that I felt I was merely a statistic, with little hope of the personal and professional progression I have subsequently gained at Wingrave Yeats.
