Business Advisory Print

We give proactive, commonsense business advice. Uniquely, many of our partners have worked outside the Profession and have run their own businesses.

We know therefore what it is like to be audited; we know what owner-managers wants from their advisers. All of us are involved in running Wingrave Yeats, which is a fast growth, owner-managed business in its own right.

All of you face common problems that arise in developing an early stage business. We know the answers; we know what happens next. We believe that the best form of advice involves teaching you. Our objective is to transfer to you the knowledge that we have so that you can build stronger businesses.

We understand that it is often difficult to break up long-standing relationships with your existing accountants even if your business has developed beyond their skill base. We are quite happy to work alongside them in giving you advice without disturbing such relationships.

What will you learn from us?

  • That you must know where you are going and what your business will look like in 3 to 5 years’ time. How will you avoid wasting time and effort in getting there?
  • That successful entrepreneurs know how to create strong management teams below them and know how to bind them in over the longer term. Can you develop from merely the creator of a new business into someone who can run a profitable, sustainable, scaleable enterprise?
  • That good financial reporting systems are a pre-requisite to success. Does your accounting function deliver to you a summary of all the key drivers (“KPI’s”) of your business on one piece of paper within 10 days of each month end?
  • That there are ways out of seemingly impossible situations that you have fallen into, through no fault of your own.
  • That selling the business in which you are a 50% shareholder for say £7m will only provide you with a minimal standard of living in “retirement”. Do you make the mistake of equating your own personal financial well being with that of your business?

Our business advice runs on a spectrum from constructive feedback during an audit, through regular advice to the Board, tax advice, projects like creating a new business plan or carrying out a thorough risk analysis to help with transactions like the sale of shares or raising new capital.

Our corporate finance arm offers a range of specialist advice in buying and selling businesses and raising capital for them.
