Having started my professional training contract working for a Big 4 accountancy firm I soon came to realise that ticking and bashing was really not for me. The anonymity that came with being part of a corporate behemoth meant that I felt I was merely a statistic, with little hope of the personal and professional progression I have subsequently gained at Wingrave Yeats.
In joining the rapidly expanding Outsourced Accountancy department of the firm I have gained so much experience in such a short space of time. Owing to their award winning reputation and unique level of service delivery the department has grown significantly in my time here. As the firm has grown, so have my own responsibilities. I already experience a great deal of face to face client exposure and have been charged with the monthly management accounts preparation of a large banking client. This type of exposure would have been impossible in my previous employment and has taught me a great deal, personally and professionally.
Whilst such experiences have sometimes been challenging, the thing that has struck me about Wingrave Yeats is the unrivalled support structure that is in place for trainees. If ever I have a problem, no matter how big or small, there is always somebody around that is more than willing to help me, from the level of partner to trainee.
In addition to the exceptional support provided in the working environment, trainees are given the sort of study support any Big 4 firm would be proud to offer. With a flexible approach and the onus on the way that you want to study, there is a wealth of opportunity for those with the enthusiasm and commitment to attain one of the most prestigious accounting qualifications available.
My typical working month involves a good balance between working in the office, visiting clients and studying for my exams at college. As such there is always variation and each week is different to the next, a far cry from the tedium of my previous role.
On top of the firms excellent work ethic there is a good social buzz about the department with regular socials varying from the pub on a Friday night to the firms annual away day. This contributes to a dynamic working environment combining respect, friendship and achievement.
In summary I would say that the time I have spent at Wingrave Yeats has been genuinely rewarding, in every possible way. The unique culture, coupled with the firms professional approach and expanding client base means that it is a really exciting time to join this thriving professional environment.
